Das Wort Substandard (lateinisch sub βunterβ) bezeichnet allgemein den unter einem genau festgelegten Standard liegenden Tatbestand einer Sache.
In der Sprachwissenschaft (Linguistik) bezeichnet Substandard (SubstandardvarietΓ€ten, NichtstandardvarietΓ€ten) den sprechsprachlichen Bereich unterhalb der normierten Standardsprache. Damit gehΓΆren sowohl dialektale als auch regiolektale VarietΓ€ten (Umgangssprachen) zum substandardsprachlichen Bereich. Um den mΓΆglicherweise pejorativen Aspekt des Sub- beziehungsweise βunter-β zu vermeiden, wird heute gleich absolut von Nonstandard gesprochen.cite-ref-1[1]
